On Wednesday 18th May, King Edward VII Sports Leaders assisted in the delivery of the North West Leicestershire School Sport Partnership (NWLSSP) Cyclo-Cross competition.
The event was hosted on King Edward VII’s field, and saw 8 teams from local primary schools compete throughout the day. This competition is just one of the many events that the Sports Leaders have volunteered at this year.
The Sports Leaders have volunteered at 15 competitions so far this academic year, with more to come this term. Events have included the following sports; Tag Rugby, Multi-Sport, Sports hall Athletics, Swimming, New Age Kurling, Tri-golf, Hockey and Cyclo-Cross. Volunteering at these competitions has provided hundreds of local primary school pupils with the opportunity to experience high quality competitions.
Alongside volunteering, the group of Sports Leaders have completed their Level 2 Qualification in Sports Leadership through attending afterschool sessions provided by NWLSSP staff.
This group of pupils have done an outstanding job at every event they have assisted with, and received highly positive feedback along the way. They will carry on representing the college, volunteering at Tri-golf and Athletics competition before the end of term.
