The girls U16 badminton team qualified to represent North West Leicestershire in the county round of the schools badminton competition on 1st March. Eve Dale, Ella Haines, Tasha Groocock and Ebony Harrison all returned to defend their county champions title from last year. Despite injury and illness throughout the team they managed to get themselves ready and psyched up to play. In the pool matches they were faced with Sir Jonathan North, De Lisle and Kibworth. The girls eased passed them winning all games 5-0 and topping the group.

After winning the group they played the semi-final against Beachamp College. The girls were unfazed by their injury and illness and won the match 5-0 again.

The final was against Leicester High. This was the team that had won all their games in the other group so the girls knew it was going to be a tough match. Amazingly the girls all played exceptionally well and managed to win the final 5-0 as well. To be crowned county champions for a second time is a great achievement, but to do it without losing a single game against the best schools in the county is nothing short of exceptional. Well done girls! On to the Regional Round on 16th March.
