Inspiration Day 2016

On November 8th, a fabulous array of visitors arrived at King Edward VII to inspire our students to aspire for greatness.

In order to develop career aspirations, visitors from Goodyear, Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs, Remploy, Next, Midland Construction, All Video Productions, The Coalville Heroes Project, LEBC, Front Row Films, the Prison Service and North West Leicestershire Council shared their experiences with our students. Business studies students developed their networking skills, and several are pursuing the possibility of work experience through the contacts they have developed today. Sixth Form students also had the opportunity to ask career related questions to some of our visitors in the main hall, which provided them with real insights into the world of work. It was fantastic to be able to bring the workplace into the classroom, and learn about careers and opportunities from a wide variety of areas, each of whom had a unique path to where they are now. Our sincere thanks to all who came, and we look forward to working with you again soon.

“Thanks for the opportunity to pass on my experience to help the students. Really enjoyed it and I think some of the questions were really good.”

Sam Outama, NW Leicestershire Council

“All of the volunteers, including myself really enjoyed the morning.”

Rachel Ridgill, Goodyear

“I really enjoyed speaking to the students, they asked questions which was great! It was a pleasure to come along today, many thanks for inviting me.”

Barbara Chantrill, LEBC

”It was a real pleasure.   I have done a great deal of public speaking in my time but this was a first for this age bracket and it was a valuable and enjoyable experience.”

Andrew Bulmer, IRPM

“Well done to you and the students on a sterling job organising the event it felt very professional but friendly. Take care and have a pleasant week.”

Bobby Gill, NW Leicestershire Council

“It was my pleasure to talk again today and you can count me in for next year as well. I hope that the students were truly inspired to take the bull by the horns into 6th form and uni.”

Brett Turner, all Video Productions

Brett has also offered a work placement to one of our students

“I just wanted to say what a great bunch of students you have, you’re very welcome and it was my pleasure!”
