BBC Children in Need

Staff and students ‘dress it up’ for Children In Need and raise an outstanding £1217.60!

For weeks the Sixth Form council have organised fund raising activities leading up to this years BBC’s Children In Need on Friday 13th November.

Students and staff devoted their evenings last week to baking cakes and biscuits in order to sell during break and lunch times to raise money for the UK’s most vulnerable children.

Rebecca McGrother Year 13 student councillor stated “The non-uniform day where students and staff had the option to wear fancy dress was a great idea! We had a range of characters including Batman, the Incredible Hulk, Super girl, Wonder woman, Spiderman and our two Vice Principals as the 118 comedy duo!

The Sixth Form quiz hosted by students ‘kicked off’ events by raising an immediate £50.60! Students Vs staff dodge ball and football provided further fund raising opportunities. Performing arts students guided by staff hosted the annual ‘King Edwards Got Talent’. The Harley Theatre was bursting at the seams with students donating generously to get a sneak preview of the UK’s future talent!

Principal Mr Noel Melvin stated, “We are once again very proud of our students’ achievements and many children will directly benefit from the proceeds raised”.

THANK YOU to everyone: students, staff and parents who contributed to this very worthy cause.
