Media Studies Showcase

Friday lunchtime 18th May, saw the unveiling of the Year 13 Media Studies A’ Level course work.

This was a fun showcase and with an audience made up of both students and staff, everyone was entertained and impressed with the exceptional quality of work produced by these A’ level students.

Various types of media were produced by these talented students including, film posters, short films, adverts and animations.

Head of Media, Miss Carter, introduced each piece of work and gave the audience some background information about the work the student produced, including what had influenced the student, and some of the techniques used to produce the work.

The showcase started with a film DVD cover and posters inspired by films in the action genre and designed by Alex Cooper, this was followed by an upbeat high energy, action sports video produced by Cameron Deardon. The work that followed included brilliant posters created by David Johnson, Lewis Simmonds, Megan Lliffe, Megan Rome and Niko Swobodzinski. A dramatic, Beyonce inspired music video by Jono Rousseau, a clever animation about a missing dog by Katie Pearson and Liam Clarke’s Netflix sport documentary advert. The audience were then blow away by the emotional and thought provoking short film by Selin Pun. The showcase concluded with a wonderful music video from Aimee Roome.

The work produced this year has been entered into a number of different competitions and we are hopeful to be nominated for a Moving Image Award for the third year running.
