King Edward Awarded Gold For The Outstanding Contribution To The Service
On Tuesday 30th January King Edward VII received the National Citizen Service Gold Award for an outstanding commitment and contribution in promoting the programme.
Lisa Widdowson the Operations Manager for NCS Midlands region said, ‘King Edward VII exceeds expectations in helping to recruit students to the fantastic programme. We cannot thank you enough’
Staff and students were delighted with the prestigious award and in particular a personally signed certificate from the Rt. Honourable Theresa May!
Ms Byrne college principal said, ‘the NCS programme is a genuine opportunity for our students to develop their self-esteem and their employability skills. We fully support the work of the NCS team as students who complete the course come back to us as different people!’
On behalf of all the staff at the college, we would like to publicly thank the NCS team for their commitment to our students in helping them to develop a range of employability and interpersonal skills.
This summer year 11 and year 12 students have been invited onto a four week programme as follows:
Week 1 team building residential (Monday – Friday)
Week 2 leadership and team skills are developed in a residential week at the University of Nottingham (Monday – Friday)
Week 3 and 4 students complete their ‘social action project’ whereby they raise awareness and money for a charity of their choice. (At home)
