Visit FROM Leicester university PGCE students to the English Department
On Thursday 19th September, twenty-five English PGCE graduates visited King Edward to observe our practice in the English department.
The purpose of this visit was to introduce the trainee teachers to the practices, strategies and environment of a functioning department. During their stay, they observed many KS4 and KS5 lessons and talked to students about their experiences in English. Jo Catchpole, Head of Department, then delivered an insightful talk about how the faculty operates and ways that teachers support the needs of all of our students; the PGCE students were given details about the faculty's curriculum rationale, how they have embedded the knowledge curriculum and the use of workbooks to coordinate the learning experience of all students.
We would like to wish all of the graduates every success in their journey towards becoming fully qualified English teachers.
