Year 12 opportunity

Nick Cave from the University of Leicester has been into the college this morning to speak to students in Year 12 about some great opportunities.

The University of Leicester offers three programmes, to current year 12 students (who meet the eligibility criteria).

Medleap in one of the programmes and is aimed at students who want to study medicine at university. It gives students support, allowing them to take part in workshops and attend the university summer school.

Pathways to Law is another of the programmes, this is for students considering studying Law. To help students find out if Law is the right choice for them, they are able to attend taster sessions at the university, go on a legal work placement and get involved with the Law summer school.

The third programme is Realising Opportunities. The programme works with several partner universities, The University of Leicester being one of these partners. All partner universities are research intense universities, so they focus on performing research as well as educating students. The Realising Opportunities programme ensures students are better equipped for life at university as well as getting the chance to understand what research-intensive universities can offer.

Students, who complete one of these programmes and then apply to study a degree at The University of Leicester, also get alternative offers, which can be two grades lower than the typical offer.

For any year 12 students, who may interested in one of these programmes then please contact Mr Frost, Head of Sixth Form.
