BTEC Hospitality observation

The BTEC Hospitality students have been working on a unit focusing on Team Working skills within the industry of work.

As part of their coursework they have been observed creating a product as a team (in this case flapjacks!); and then selling this product as though in a retail environment.

The students worked in three teams:

- Kyle Webb & Shaun Bagnall

- Anna-Rose Coombes-Chapman, James Hussey & Paige Moore

- Sally-Anne Coombes- Chapman, Paige Reddick & Bethany Culpin

They all worked really well whilst creating the product demonstrating excellent communication skills and organisation. They were observed selling their product to staff members and fellow students in the staff room. The observed students all displayed positive body language and their flapjacks were enjoyed by teachers and peers alike. Many teachers commented how the student’s flapjacks were better than the spares I purchased from a supermarket!

It has been fantastic to see how the students embraced the assessment and demonstrated team working and customer service skills that are easily transferable into real life working scenarios. Hopefully this experience and the positive feedback the students received can help them develop even more in the future.
